What will happen?

I offer a secure, confidential space where you can explore any difficulties you may be experiencing.

I undertake both open-ended and time agreed work according to your needs.

How do I know what is right for me?

The words counselling and psychotherapy can be confusing and are often used interchangeably.

In our first session together we will discuss what you wish to achieve from any future sessions and how you wish to go forward. If you wish to undertake sessions we will periodically review how sessions are meeting your needs.

In brief:

Counselling

Usually involves an agreed time period, where we focus on a specific issue by exploring your thoughts and feelings, in order to increase your awareness and support any changes you may wish to make.

Psychotherapy

Often involves open ended work and is usually a more in-depth exploration of issues you may be experiencing such as depression or anxiety, which may have developed over a long period. We will work together to understand past experiences and their impact on you now. Understanding more fully the effect experiences may have had upon your life can be freeing, allowing you to grow and develop, so that life may be experienced more fully.
